In The Mind of An Overthinker

Hello there, I'm Elsa, and I'm an overthinker.

While this term is often casually used in our society, it genuinely describes me. Imagine constructing a castle brick by brick and then demolishing it, only to rebuild it from a different dimension. It's a painstaking process, much like how my mind operates for every scenario. What may seem like a simple, natural occurrence to you becomes a complex web of events and consequences in my mind.

For me, Event B is not just Event B; it's a summation of the events leading up to it and the potential aftermath. You might have heard the phrase, "Don't lie to an overthinker," and it's for the very reason I mentioned. I've lost count of how many times I've chosen to ignore my better judgment just to let someone believe they've outsmarted me. To me, it's easier than investing my valuable time in convincing you that you're being dishonest to my face.

It's not all smooth sailing in the world of an overthinker. Anyone who shares this trait will understand that one of the toughest challenges is deciphering your partner in a relationship.

This is a whole other Pandora's box to unpack. Allow me to give you, for instance. Girl meets Boy. Boy likes Girl. Girl overthinks every reason not to end up in a relationship with Boy. Here's the thing I've learned as an overthinker. One, use it to be more strategic. Two, just because it's concretely built in your mind doesn't mean it's the reality.
